What is a neurotoxin?

Botulinum toxin type A is a neurotoxin, better known under brand names such as Botox®, Dysport® and Xeomin®. Neurotoxin treatments are the most popular single cosmetic procedure in the U.S and are mainly used to smooth dynamic wrinkles, or those wrinkles that form as a result of facial movements such as frowning, squinting, smiling, and other expressions we tend to make day after day.

How does the neurotoxin work?

When Botulinum toxin A is injected under the skin, it works on the neuromuscular junction causing paralysis of the muscles in that area and smoothing of the overlying skin, resulting in a reduced appearance of wrinkles.
How much does the neurotoxin cost?

The cost of the neurotoxin varies patient to patient and by the amount of neurotoxin needed to achieve the best results. We price our Dysport®, Botox®, and Xeomin® by the “unit”, based on the amount used: $12/unit (Botox & Xeomin) $4/unit (Dysport)
What to expect during your visit?

This is a fast treatment that can be as quick as 10-15 minutes. Small amounts of the Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin® is injected into the muscles of the targeted area using a very fine needle. Some clients do feel a mild discomfort from the injections, but it’s temporary.
Will there be any downtime after neurotoxin treatment?

No strenuous activity or exercise the day of, otherwise you may return to normal activities right away.
How long will my neurotoxin work?

Following treatment, you will not see results immediately. This is to be expected. The maximum effect takes place in 2 weeks and typically lasts from 3-4 months. Because these results don’t last forever, repeated injections are needed to preserve the achieved effects.
